Speed Measurement Laboratories Tests
The VF2 Photo Jammer, was tested at the
2005 Radar Detector Shoot Out.
They found this product to be effective
while using a 12.4 Mega pixel Nikon professional imaging system with high
intensity strobes, as found in red light and photo radar enforcement
systems.

PRODUCT TESTS
The VF Series
Photo Jammer is the top rated photo speed trap jammer available today.
The VF2 Photo jammer is a photo
blocker, which detects all photo radar cameras. Both VF products
provide active photo radar jamming against standard photo radar speed trap
cameras. The photo jamming prevents the photo radar camera from getting a
picture of your license plate, thus, it is impossible to mail a speeding
ticket in the mail.
The PRS1-B and PRS1-V products
provide front and rear photo jamming of every photo radar speed camera trap
used.
The VF is simply
the very best active Photo Jammer available.
There are photo spray
products such as Photo Blocker and anti-photo plates, such as Phantom Plate
and Chameleon; but they are ineffective against digital cameras when using
Inverse Video. This is a little tidbit, that the passive companies fail to
mention, however, Speed Measurement Labs, RadarTest.com and many TV programs
show clearly that the passive products do not work against Digital Cameras.
The VF2 will jam every photo
trap, every toll booth camera, day or night, using single flash cameras,
dual flash or infrared flash cameras. It does not matter what they use, as
the VF2 will actively prevent the photograph acquisition of your license
plate.
-
Flash Down
- The VF2 Photo Radar Jammer is a Flash Down, active photo blocker,
which detects all photo radar cameras used today, and j ams all photo
radar speed trap cameras. Some of these photo radar camera companies are
Truvelo,
American Traffic Systems,
Gatso,
MultaNova,
etc.
-
Radar
- The VF2
was tested against photo detection from two directions.
A VF2 was installed on the front and rear of the test vehicle to
challenge a front facing (front pointing) photo trap and a rear facing
(rear pointing) photo trap.
By front pointing, we
mean that the test vehicle drives towards the photo trap, which is aimed
at the front of our test vehicle, pointed across the road at about 20-30
degrees.
By rear pointing, we mean
that the test vehicle drives towards the photo trap and passes the photo
camera trap, pointed across the road at about 20-30 degrees, aimed at
our rear license plate.
In both cases, the VF2
detected and responded to the camera flashes by super exposing the
license plate with very bright white light, preventing an image of the
license plates .
The VF2 was then tested
against a double flash camera trap under the same test sequence, front
and back. Again the VF2 detected and responded to the camera flashes by
super exposing the license plate with very bright white light,
preventing an image of the license plates.
The VF2 was then tested
against an infrared pulse and the VF2 responded to both front and rear
infrared camera pulses by super exposing the license plate with very
bright white light, preventing an image of the license plates.
In 100% of the test
challenges, the VF2 defeated each photo trap. Each image was then
"inversed in video" to determine if digital processing could bring out
the alpha-numeric characters.
In all cases the inverse
video could not bring out the license plate letters and numbers, and all
it was able to do was show a totally black image or a totally white
image of the license plate.

Passive Photo Radar
Jammer Comparisons – It was necessary to compare the passive spray
photo blockers and passive anti-photo plates to the VF2 performance.
The passive sprays are
essentially a hair spray or similar to hair spray liquids. Without going
into technical detail, the anti photo blocker is sprayed on the license
pla te forming droplets of liquid in the sprayed areas. Each droplet
solidifies into a crystal on the surface of the plate, forming crystals
across the sprayed area.
Crystals form many flat
surfaces oriented in many different directions. When a bright light is
aimed at the crystal surface, it is reflected in many different
directions. The idea is to diffuse the reflected light, such that the
camera sees a distorted image. The problem is that while the light is
diffused, the alpha-numeric characters are still visible when the video
image is inversed. The other passive product is an anti-photo plate
cover.
The plates are designed
with a lens that prevents much of the light to reflect in directions
other than the typical camera angle of 30 degrees. The problem with
this, is again, when the video image is inversed, there is enough
reflected light, that the alpha-numeric characters are easily seen.
-
Active Flash Back
Photo Radar Jammer Comparisons –
The active Flash Back jammers
detect the bright light of an analog or digital camera and flash back at
the camera.
The problem with Flash
Back is that the jammer does not know where the camera is. Perhaps the
photo camera is to the left or right or above; so it has to ha ve a wide
dispersal of light, which makes the light getting to the camera weak
(less lumens) at the camera, wherever it may be located.
The second disadvantage
of Flash Back active photo jammers is that if someone (another driver)
is looking in the direction of the car, they get blinded by the flash.
It creates a liability to the driver of the Flash Back active jammer, if
an accident occurs as a result of the bright flash blinding another
driver.
The third disadvantage is
that Flash Back Photo Jammers can not detect infrared daytime pulses; as
that would be a patent infringement on our VF1
and VF2 products; thus a Flash Back, active Photo Jammer would not even
detect or jam an infrared photo radar speed trap. Jamming some of the
photo traps is not what the customer buys a photo radar jammer for!
The disadvantages are
summarized below of the competitive Flash Back Photo Jammer is the
following:
-
When "inverse video"
is used while processing the digital image from a Flash Back Jammer,
the image is easily viewed.
-
Flash back
technology could cause an accident if blinding another driver who
happens to be looking in the direction of the flash.
-
Detection of
infrared cameras is not designed into the Flash Back Photo Jammer.
The VF2 and VF1
are both a straight forward license plate design.
When installed and plugged
into 12Vdc, they alert you while they are doing their job. When a radar gun
or laser gun is used, the driver would get an alert and would normally slow
down as a response to the alert. But because photo radar speed traps are
instant devices, in essence freezing a moment in time, it serves no purpose
to adjust your speed in response to a photo speed trap.
Once the camera has flashed,
either you are protected against the flash or infrared pulse, or you get
your license plate picture taken, i.e, a ticket in the mail is on its way.

TECHNICAL DETAILS
Small compact product
to protect your License Plate from Photo traps
Discreet, looks like a license plate light, easy, hidden installation
Works silently and is prepared to support you as soon as you start your
engine
VF1 is extremely fast
acting for motorcycles defeating all analog, infrared and digital photo
cameras, daytime or night time
VF2
is extremely fast acting for cars, trucks and 4WD’s defeating all
analog, infrared and digital photo cameras, daytime or night time
Revenue raising or
saving lives?
Many
people seem to be asking this question, after receiving an infringement
ticket in the mail for traveling only a few km/h over the speed limit.
The VF1 and VF2 Photo Jammers are state of the art, speed camera
jamming products designed to defeat all highway speed cameras and
intersection cameras. The VF1 is designed for motorcycles; while the VF2
Equalizer is made for cars, 4WD’s and trucks.
The unit mounts discreetly above your number plate and features a
self test mode, dash warning light and control unit.
Using an instantaneous sensor, the VF series immediately detects the
speed camera flash, and in that instant, strobes your license plate with
a powerful burst of white light. This downward flash across the plate
instantly covers your license plate with a powerful protective glow, so
that the speed camera can not view the license plate number.
This
technology works against all analog photo traps, infrared photo traps
and most importantly, against all digital photo traps, which are 90% of
the world-wide cameras used today. Photo
cameras using pressure mats on the highway use infrared to tell the
camera when to fire, but they too will be defeated.
There are number plate spray products such as Photo Blocker and
anti-photo plates, such as Phantom Plate and Chameleon; but they are
ineffective against digital cameras when the police use “Inverse Video”.
This tiny piece of information is something these companies fail to
mention, however Speed Measurement Labs, RadarTest.com and even some
current affairs TV programs have clearly shown that these passive
products do not work against digital cameras.
Digital cameras take digital images, which can be manipulated to
bring out the alpha-numeric characters behind anti-photo number plate
covers, such as the Chameleon and anti-photo spray, such as Photo Fog.
But when the number plate is super saturated with white light, the
digital camera cannot acquire an image.
Typical license plate taken by speed photo trap:

Inverse Video is also defeated as shown:
How Photo Traps Work:
Photo
traps are electronic photo boxes, typically installed along the highway
or on bridges for one purpose: To detect as many speeding violations as
possible, photo the vehicle registration and mail speeding tickets to
the registration address on each photo. In many cases it is an automatic
process and no police officers are involved.
The photo trap product manufacturer are frequently contracted by
the police to install the cameras where the traffic patterns are always
fast, and let the money roll in. As long as there are no traffic
accidents, it's no problem to that local jurisdiction, since it is all
free, unbudgeted income to be spent any way that jurisdiction wants to
spend the income. A well located Photo Trap generates in excess of $1
million a year in high traffic areas of cities. Amazing isn't it? Here
is some more interesting information.
Washington DC recently had a high number of photo systems
installed. Nearly every major city uses photo traps in the USA. All
major international cities, such as Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan,
Australia, New Zealand, Paris, Leon, Munich, Stuttgart, London, Glasgow,
Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, British Columbia, Madrid use photo traps.
France, Hong Kong and the UK have fallen in love with this method of
income. In the USA the states of Washington, Oregon, California,
Arizona, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Ohio, Massachusetts,
Florida and New Jersey love Photo Radar. In the USA, the cameras are
frequently installed by the camera manufacturer. The tickets generated
are frequently mailed to the offender by the camera manufacturer. And
the greater portion of the ticket money generated often goes to the
camera manufacturer.
In most cases the trap is controlled
by a radar gun. Sometimes it is a laser based system, but the technical
approach is essentially the same. It may be an X band, K band, Ku band
or Ka band radar gun.
The
radar gun is aimed across the road, typically at 20 – 30 degrees, and as
you enter into the radar beam, it calculates your speed at that angle,
and determines if you are driving above a certain speed set point. In
some cases the photo is from the rear, which means that you actually
pass the physical camera, then enter the radar beam as you drive by, and
the camera takes a photo from the rear.

The
rear photo trap (see image A) is the most difficult to detect with a
radar detector, since the photo trap faces t he back of your car as you
drive by the camera. The radar detector is designed to detect radar
coming towards the detector, but a Photo Trap configured to detect the
back of your car as you drive through the trap, makes it nearly
impossible to detect the radar in time to slow down. Even a superb radar
detector can not provide enough warning in situation A. That is where a
Photo Jammer will help the driver, since the Photo Jammer will detect
the camera and prevent the photo of your plate registration. If the trap
shoots radar at your vehicle as you approach the radar trap (see image
B), a good radar detector would provide 300 feet advance warning of the
trap as you are driving towards it. Sometimes the speed trip point is
only 2-3 mph/kph above the speed limit. This is a money maker for the
local government, since nearly everybody will be a little over the speed
limit from time to time. Other times the set point is a more
reasonable 7-10 mph/kph above the speed limit. If all photo traps were
installed in the B configuration, a radar detector would be suffici ent.
But you never know what will be encountered, front or rear photo traps;
so a Photo Jammer would be a good solution for you.
Once
the trip point has been reached, the radar sends a signal to the camera
as to when to flash, such that the registration plate is right in the
middle of the photo image.
It
does not matter how fast you are driving, as the radar gun or laser gun
tells the camera when to flash based on your speed. They got
you!!...Unless you have our VF1 or VF2 Photo Jammer.
Our
VF1 and VF2 are designed to detect the flash and instantly over expose
your license plate with a single bright flash. Even if the photo trap
flashes twice in a second, we can flash a brilliant light across the
license plate twice, causing the camera to over expose the image. No
image, no photo, no Ticket in the Mail.
The
VF1 is for motorcycles, while the VF2 is for cars, trucks and SUVs.
The
VF1 and VF2 is far superior to old photo plate technology, where a
plastic plate was placed over your license plate.
The
anti-photo plates over the license plate used to work against the
traditional camera and film traps, but they were shadowed and police
would pull people over for hiding their plates.
The
new photo traps use digital imaging and infrared imaging, which can not
be defeated by products such as Photo Spray, (comes in a variety of
names), and license plate photo radar covers (comes in a variety of
product names such as Chameleon, etc.)
Our
active VF1 and VF2 Photo Jammers are the only products today that do not
hide the plate at all, never interferes with the police if they wish to
look at your license plate, but the VF1 and Vf2 will instantly
overexpose your license plate with a very bright, downward focused
flash, when a photo or infrared camera attempts to get your plate
registration. No ticket in the mail!!
