Any help appreciated by a new Bel user.

I just bought a used Bel STi Driver from the states and drove around with it yesterday for the first time. I noticed it didn't go off at all after passing several fixed speed safety cameras. Could it be that these cameras are switched off or do they use a means other than radar for detecting speeds? I'm referring to the fixed red light/speed cameras you see along many Sydney roads.

I know the Bel works because I was getting some K band detection from various other road sources. I reset the Bel to default settings, and even with x band turned on the device was relatively quite through a densely urban populated 15km round trip from St.Ives to Castle Hill.

* Have you ever had your bike inspected by a copper while stopped and asked what 'this bit here is'..what did you say?

I live in SA and am very close to buying some kit. Right now because I mostly do highway riding to work, my belief is its coppers with their portable hairdryers I most have to worry about (bike or car, marked or unmarked) - thus I believe most of them have laser guns, however I suppose the cars may still have radar systems setup...does anyone know?
