HID Xenon Conversion Kits
High-intensity discharge (HID) lamps are a type of electrical lamp which produce light by means of an electric arc between tungsten electrodes housed inside a translucent or transparent fused quartz or fused alumina tube. This tube is filled with both gas and metal salts. The gas facilitates the arc's initial strike. Once the arc is started, it heats and evaporates the metal salts forming a plasma, which greatly increases the intensity of light produced by the arc and reduces its power consumption. High-intensity discharge lamps are a type of arc lamp. Compared with fluorescent and incandescent lamps, HID lamps have higher luminous efficacy since a greater proportion of their radiation is in visible light as opposed to heat. Their overall luminous efficacy is also much higher: they give a greater amount of light output per watt of electricity input.
HOW TO ORDER HID LIGHTS FOR YOUR CAR
STEP 1:
Determine what globe (socket type) fits your car
Check in your vehicle’s manual to determine the type of globes your car takes. There are two main types of globes; ‘single beam’ and ‘dual beam’. ‘Single beam’ globe vehicles have a separate globe for high and low beams, and come in a variety of socket types (such as H1, H3, H4, H7, 9005, 9006, 9007, D2S, D2R etc) whilst dual beam globes operate both high and low beam from the one globe.

If you still cannot find your globe type, then you will have to check with
your car dealer as to what globe socket type your vehicle has.

STEP 2: Decide what colour lights you
want
Once you know the type of globes your car takes, you now choose the colour
you would like your lights to be. ‘Normal’ halogen type globes appear
a yellow colour since they ‘burn’ at a lower temperature than HID. HID
lights in OEM vehicles such as BMW come from the factory at a colour
temperature of 4300k. This is a bright light, but still has a slight
yellow hue to it. 4,300k HID lights (usually) output the most amount
of light than any other colour.
It is a common misconception, that the higher you go in colour temperature,
(8000k, 10,000k, 12,000k) the brighter your headlights are. This is false.
The higher you go in colour temperature the lower the actual
amount of light that is put onto the road.
So what colour do you choose? 4300k is the OEM standard of factory HID
lighting systems, which as mentioned is bright white with a slight yellow
hue. 5000k is as close to pure white as you can get. 6000k is the most
popular, as it is bright white with a slight blue tinge. Any higher than
6000k and you get a more noticeable blue tinge right up to 12,000k which is
a blue / purple light. You can check the colour chart here for all the

We should also advise that over 6000k may be illegal in your area. You
should check your local laws.
STEP 3: Decide if you want 35watt or
55watt HID lights
Most standard halogen light bulbs in your car are 55watts. They produce
around 700 – 1000 ‘lumens’ of light onto the road.
'Lumens' is simply the word given to the measurement of light output.
Another word sometimes used to describe the amount of light output is
"Candlepower".
So traditional Halogen globes put out around 700 - 1000 lumens of light. 35watt HID kits
by comparison put around 2800 – 3200 lumens of light onto the road (around 3
times brighter than normal halogen globes). 55watt HID kits put almost 5000
lumens of light onto the road – around 5 times brighter than normal
halogens! 55watt HID are best suited for spot lights or high beams.
STEP 4: Pick which brand of HID you want

The Phillips HID kits are simply the best HID kit on the market in our
opinion. Phillips are
recognised world-wide for producing the highest quality globes, and these
are manufactured in German. These kits come with a 24 months replacement warranty.
The age old “you get what you pay for” is especially true with HID kits. We
don’t bother selling the cheap and nasty kits you may find on eBay for under
$100 for obvious reasons. We have been a registered Australian business
since 2002 and we intend to stick around for the long term.
If you read through many car forums you will hear how most of these cheap
kits fail in under 12 months leaving their owner with no option but to
replace the lighting system with a better quality set.
Don't waste your money on buying a cheap and nasty HID kit the first time
round - only having to replace it a few months down the track.

STEP 5:
Order

STEP 6: That’s

We use Australia Post Platinum Express and FedEx Priority Shipping for fast delivery
in 2-5 days Australia wide (depending on your address), and once your order has left we
will email you the online tracking number so you can track your delivery
over the Internet.
